Place of power

It is time for women to stop striving for equality with men – this is ridiculous.

Let us seek to be the very nature of woman – perceivably one of the most feared creatures on earth. Do you doubt that we are feared? Look around at all the ways in which women have been suppressed – now tell me this is not due to fear.

Suppressed and distorted women only become more feared, because they are an unknown entity – unrecognisable, even to themselves.

Women, it is time to learn our true nature. Not by observing other women or men, but by looking within. To be attentive to our own heart thoughts.

Now is the time to strip bare our truth, and wrestle with it. Only by freeing ourselves can we free another.

Let us recognise why we do what we do, and then, with compassion as our filter – let us question ourselves again.

I am not saying let us strive to wield power over men – only the  insecure and sick seek such power.

I am saying, let us realise our own beauty, our own mystery, and our own selves. Let us honour our point of difference, whilst honouring the  point of difference that is man.

Let us live with a well-developed conscience founded on the solid ground of truth – unearthed in the quiet place.

Let us be women anchored in compassion for the men and women that have been dwelling in the slums of generational ignorance and fear.

Let us take responsibility for our own thoughts, attitudes, needs and desires. Let us not live in a place of victim-hood – passive and shrivelled.

Our hearts are our own stomping ground – no-one but ourselves rule this sacred place. This is our place of power.

    • Thanks for sharing this aspect of your life bravesmartbold – I was hoping this would resonate with someone else outside of myself; and at the same time wishing and anticipating these words to be old fashioned and unnecessary. What a wish! One day…

    • Thanks heaps Robert; fellow weird one. I’m relieved to see that I didn’t offend a man.
Ahhh, Timothy summed it up – beautifully pithy.

I am loving your blog by the way – so very well written and intelligent. Pure pleasure to visit.

      • Hmm, well, I’m a terrible benchmark; it’s practically impossible to offend me. Though, as a general rule, people are offended too easily today, may as well stir the pot if you’ve good intentions, I reckon. And thanks! I’ve enjoyed kicking up my feet here, too. Your cyber house in comfy.

      • Good to hear that it’s hard to offend you – I believe we feel offence when what was said was deep down believable to us, but not yet realised… so ultimately, we offend ourselves. Offence is an awesome opportunity to realise a dormant aspect of ourselves. However the temptation to focus all that energy on to the ‘offender’ keeps us distracted from that opportunity blah blah… we’re tapping into my hobby here – I should stop rambling now.
‘stir the pot if you’ve got good intentions’, Yes!
Make yourself at home – you are very welcome 😀

I’m not sure how to get rid of ‘Just Another WordPress.com site’ to be honest – any advice would be welcome 😛

You, Mr. Invisible Mikey, have a very informative blog – I am planning on showing my partner your site, he will love it too.

      • TimeThief or Raincoaster would know right away, but it’s in your Dashboard area, somewhere under “settings” for your blog over on that buncha icons to the left. You can change your sub-head, edit “Just another”, do things that your theme allows, add widgets. I only changed themes once, from white text on black to the more generic one I use now, because some visually-challenged readers had trouble seeing it. And thanks!

  1. I wish there was a “LOVE” this button because I would click it (versus “Like” this.) “Now is the time to strip bare our truth, and wrestle with it.” Oh baby… don’t I know it… this is exactly where I am right now. This was beautiful Kelly, thank you.

    • Thank you Dana, I wrote this piece in a flurry, finally, after years of feeling frustrated as a woman for my own history, my own perceptions of how I’m perceived as as a woman, looking back on the dynamics within my immediate and extended family while growing up, my community, television, other cultures, ugh. This list goes on and on!
I wish that we would ALL snap out of it!

But snapping out of it is a process.

Thanks again for your wonderful comment Dana.

  2. EQUAL TO MEN???? HHHMMMMMM,………I AM A MAN, AND IF I WAS A WOMAN, I WOULD NOT TRY TO COMPETE WITH ME,……i do not say this because i am above a woman at all!!! (I AM NOT!!!) to me,…true equality (for men and women) comes through mutual respect towards one another,….and i believe this respect to be a choice that each one must decide to have,…………and thus, a healthy balanced relationship is an instant bi-product continuously,…because respect was between the two from the start,………with respect, both individuals see one another,…as interesting,…………hhhhmmmm,……i could write way too much on this one,………and i am only now on my first cup of coffee!!!

and, by the way,…..two individuals in a bad relationship at the moment ARE NOT HOPELESS!!!!!,……………..i can walk twenty years in “one direction”,……..BUT,……IT ONLY TAKES A SPLIT SECOND TO TURN THE OTHER DIRECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,………this we do, of course,….based on “our own individual choice”,………..when “two” together do this seperately,…….they can “then” walk forward together in a newness of life,…and love,……..THE PAST IS THE PAST,……..LIKE A STAIN ON A CARPET,……….WALK AWAY FROM THE STAIN, AND THE CARPET STAIN WILL MOVE FURTHER AND FURTHER AWAY,……but it can and will do so, “ONLY” AS “WE” MOVE FORWARD,…………………..

    okay,…..i gotta wake up now,……………toksoon,……..

    • Hey johndoe, great thoughts here, lovely.

Are your question marks in regards to ‘equal with men?’ refer to my writing piece? or does it refer to your comment?
I’m just asking because the piece I wrote said ‘it is time for women to stop striving for equality with men…’ but, as I read your comment again, I think that you stated what you did so that you could lead into your comment… anyway – fantastic thoughts shared here, thanks for dropping back for a chat 🙂

  3. hi there beautiful!!! how are you??? my ???????? are about the way (unfortunately, and sadly) that we want to compare ourselves to another to try to find our worth and value, while ironicaly “stripping” someone else down to accomplish such,……kinda what we call a “catch 22” here in america,…………meaning,….how can two people walk together, hand in hand, if one of them is walking 15 steps ahead??? whether they (the leader????) are walkin “ahead” by choice of gain, or whether they knocked the other person (whom they could have been walking hand in hand with) back so that they (the one in front) could be in the limelight.

mutual respect takes away living (trying to) on the ever changing “scales” of life,…………..if i, as an individual, view the one i want to be close to as “lower” than me,..then how would it be possible to respect her??? or,…vice versa???,……….throw away the scales,….find love,…find respect,…spend your life with one who truly cherishes you.

i do not have this (woman) other person in my life at the moment, “but” i believe what i have just written here to be true. and possible.

i have known and do know individuals who live their lifes with this kind of unmeaured love and respect, and, they hav emade my entire life more complete, and made the world a better place just because of who they are and how they treat one another,…..and it’s beautiful!!!!!!!!!

wow,…….i write this while i am quite tired,…..hhhhmmmm?????? i wonder how i will feel about what i wrote here tonight in the morning. it is what it is,…….and my “hope” is that is taken in an encouraging and non demeaning way,…………..please believe this,…….much love to ya! toksoon…

(i “was” gonna “proof read”,……naw, i will just push “post comment”….)

    • Johnedoe, this rant was bound to happen one of these years. I was an observant child – a child of the 70’s no less, in Australia… of which probably tells one person nothing, and another person everything.

I feel a deep grief for women and men. My own grief I can barely comprehend, because it’s so layered and familiar. My heart just breaks for us all. It is so hard to define this subject within words – my above attempt has been stewing for years – and now I feel a bit spent.

Ironically I am in a well balanced, two way respectful, wonderful, relationship… and this is the time that I can finally speak with clarity about this issue? weird.

I have moved house and misplaced the reference photo for the charcoal I am currently working on – hopefully I will find it, and finish the piece.
In the meantime, I am very interested in doing more post up art in public spaces (with permission), using a poster of ‘Compass with no needle’ with one of my aphorisms written within it. Hopefully my ‘street art’ section will receive something fresh one day soooooon.

By the sounds of what you have written above – the world would be a better place if you were to decide to be in a relationship again, you sound like you have the heart for it.

  6. IF I “DECIDE” TO BE IN A RELATIONSHIP AGAIN???? THAT’S FUNNY!!!,……i only say that it’s funny because it takes “two” to be “in a close” (mutualy respectful, etc,..) relationship,…..”IF” there is that “certain woman” out there, perhaps one day we will meet,……but, until then,…i am just living my life,…….i believe that by obvious design, we men and women are designed to need one another,……and we are designed to be “good” for each other,….for many, the definition of the word, good,…is where the “big mystery” exists,…….hhhhmmmmm,…..just waking up now and it is hard to type with coffee in hand,……back later,…….hope that your day (or is it night there now???) is going very well,…………toksoon
