Yes, Kelly… It’s similar to an aphorism I heard some years ago that went something like this… “In order to be able to do anything well in life, you have to be able to do badly at the beginning.”
So the idea that failing strengthens success? I love how success is being redefined now days – it’s more whole.
Thanks vincenzo, my fellow aphorist
Yes, you could say we are two peas in a pod.
Is that so?
Yeah for me, bert, I’ve noticed it is – maybe I just do things the hard way?!
When I clean out a cupboard, I completely pull it apart first. When I try to fix a wrong, I have to first humble myself and risk the present – which often looks and feels messy… and the list could go on…
Reminds me of one of my favorite Picasso quotes, “Every act of creation is first an act of destruction.”
Wow, what a great quote! Nice.
It seems that I’ve written an aphorism similar to Picasso’s quote; ‘The creative process flourishes whilst on the brink of destruction’. It’s a bit disheartening – nothing I say can be new.
This is why I avoid reading other people’s quotes/aphorisms – I fear subconsciously copying. The sad thing is, I LOVE this type of expression, and would love to indulge! But it seems, even me avoiding reading this type of writing, won’t prevent me from expressing something similar. Maybe I should just see it as confirmation
confirmation exactly – you know what they say – “great minds think alike”
Ha! imagine me believing my mind was like Picasso’s!
:)
